The Florida Sunshine Illicium (Anise) is a real asset for gardeners with a lot of shade. They have beautiful chartreuse yellow leaves that are reliably attractive and evergreen. In fall, they take on a bolder, hot-yellow sort of shade. They also produce non-edible anise-scented fruit in late spring. At maturity, they reach 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide. They're hardy from USDA Zones 7-9 and grow well from partial sun to full shade. They grow best in rich soil with good drainage and should be watered 3-4 times per week for the first growing season. These Florida Sunshine Anise are well-matured into their 2-gallon pots and will tend to be 12-18 inches tall when shipped.
